FLYING around - AND AWAY ....
Back to Welcome PageCooper's hawks are Birds of Prey. They belong to a family of hawks known as Accipiters (accipiter cooperii).
These hawks prey mostly on other birds, but also eat small mammals and reptiles.
Their long tails act as rudders that allow them to be extremely maneuverable in wooded areas as they hunt birds on the wing.
These Hawks were declining species, but have recovered nicely due to their ability to adapt to growing human influences.
- AND THE SUMMER 2002 - THEY HAVE CHOSEN - AND LITERALLY "TOOK UNDER THEIR WINGS" - OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IN CONCORD, CALIFORNIA!
